Job Description

The incumbent of this position is responsible for addressing the needs of families of low-income through a Whole Family Approach with the goal of ending intergenerational poverty. Helping them overcome barriers to greater financial independence through direct service delivery, effective coaching, and coordinated service delivery with other SNHS programs and partner agencies. In addition, this position is responsible for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site coordination and oversight of operations and volunteers working remotely and in-person.

Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Family Centered Services Manger and the general supervision of the Innovation and Strategy Director.

Exercised: None.

RATE: $25.43/hr

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilize parent engagement strategies to recruit families, in cooperation with other SNHS program staff, for engagement in the whole family initiative.
  • Conduct an initial assessment, when the family is ready, to establish current levels of strengths and needs so metrics can be established. Reassess at appropriate intervals throughout the engagement process.
  • Actively work to break down the siloed program structure and provide seamless access to SNHS services for families.
  • Continually remain up-to-date about all SNHS programs and services available to individuals and families to ensure families have access to wraparound services; maintain connections with colleagues to ensure warm hand offs can be made.
  • Trained in major SNHS program intake procedures to help eliminate multiple program appointments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources available to individuals and families to address the needs not met by SNHS programming; maintain connections with community partners to ensure warm hand offs can be made.
  • Provide coaching to families to support them in identifying goals and ensuring follow­ through.
  • Assist families with developing peer support networks to encourage successful achievement of goals.
  • Attend trainings and remain up-to-date on parent-centered coaching and whole family practices.
  • Administer the Your Money in Action program to cohorts of whole family participants.
  • Work with families on establishing and maintaining a budget appropriate for their specific resources and needs.
  • Utilize the cliff calculator tools to assist families when transitioning from public assistance.
  • Follow-up with families on a regular basis to include in person meetings and phone calls; may need to meet families in the community to reduces transportation barriers faced by some families.
  • Advocate for families with other partners or service providers, and coach parents in learning to advocate on their own behalf.
  • Ensure adequate VITA volunteer coverage (including greeter/screeners/coaches, quality reviewers and tax preparers).
  • Ensuring VITA sites are equipped with appropriate supplies and equipment.
  • Oversight of VITA site setup and take down, and ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Tracking and compiling data for VITA grant and program reporting requirements.
  • Oversight of VITA e-file transmission of all e-filed returns; handle and manage e-file rejections.
  • Ensuring equipment and data is secure and taxpayer privacy/confidentiality is maintained.
  • Managing VITA volunteers.
  • Ensuring quality review is conducted of all tax returns, and assist volunteers with questions/concerns.
  • Ensuring a high-quality customer service experience at all VITA sites.
  • Maintain detailed client records and record services in appropriate database system/s.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel when needed.
  • Will maintain professional boundaries with all current, past, and prospective clients, and maintain the confidentiality of clients and staff, in accordance with SNHS policy and procedure.
  • Abide by all SNHS Safety policies and procedures.
  • Present professional and positive image as a representative of SNHS.
  • Responsible for having adequate knowledge of all SNHS programs and will gather sufficient intake information to make referrals to other SNHS programs which are beneficial to the client and his/her family.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong community relations skills, including interpersonal, written and oral communication
  • Knowledge of the barriers facing the low-income population and the relevant field­ supported interventions, including Trauma Informed Care
  • Ability to be empathetic towards the needs of individuals of low-income
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal human service systems and resources

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with low-income families in a case management setting
  • Knowledge of social service system
  • Bachelor's degree in human services or related field a plus
