Summer Food Service Program Monitor & Float Support (35 hrs/wk)

Job Summary:

The Summer Food Service (SFSP) is designed to keep kids connected to food and nutrition over the summer months when school lunch programs are not in service. The Program Site Monitor and Float Support is responsible for monitoring and evaluating (SFSP) sites to ensure that SNHS/SFSP staff are operating in compliance with USDA/SFSP regulations. In addition this position acts as a direct support to SFSP Coordinator and assists with the oversight of staff in the absence of the Coordinator. 

Supervision Received:

Works under the direct supervision of the Summer Food Service Program Coordinator and under the general supervision of the Community Outreach Director.

Supervision Exercised:

Assists with the oversight of SFSP staff in the absence of the Program Coordinator.   

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma is required; however, a BA Degree is preferred.
  • Detail oriented with strong communications skills required and experience supervising staff preferred;
  • Strong computer skills and ability multitask.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with SFSP State Department of Education Staff, SFSP participants, SNHS staff, and members of the public.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift/carry/move heavy items up to 50 pounds. 


Responsibilities:

  • Will attend mandatory SFSP training prior to facilitating food service activities and will strive to meet or exceeds state and federal expectations mandated in the training at all times.  
  • Become knowledgeable in all aspects of SFSP regulations, policies and procedures. Will read and understand the USDA monitoring guidelines for SFSP site procedures.
  • Monitors program compliance for all SFSP staff, participants, sponsored meal sites and community partner drop site staff, ensuring all are in compliance with the SFSP/USDA guidelines.
  • Acts as liaison with SFSP staff, Housing Authority staff, Property Management staff, Parks and Recreation staff and other local town/city agencies and departments.
  • This position also works closely with SFSP Coordinator and maybe called to assist in any and all SFSP duties as needed.
  • Visits all SNHS SFSP sites according to monitoring schedule. Observes staff performance and SFSP participants to ensure USDA policy and procedures are being followed.
  • The Monitor will complete three performance evaluations for each site based on the monitoring schedule submitted to the state of New Hampshire. All monitoring documentation will be recorded neatly and accurately and submitted to SFSP Coordinator.
  • Any and all Non-Compliance issue findings will be addressed immediately with onsite staff. The Monitor will notify SFSP verbally as soon as reasonably possible and the Monitor will follow up with a written report to the SFSP Coordinator and the Outreach Director describing in detail the compliance issue(s) and how it was resolved by the end of the day or before the staff in question begin another shift.
  • Fill out all monitoring required paperwork and submit required documents to SFSP coordinator on time.
  • Will maintain professional boundaries with all current, past, and prospective clients, and maintain the confidentiality of clients and staff, in accordance with SNHS policy and procedure
  • Abide by all SNHS Safety policies and procedures.
  • Present professional and positive image as a representative of SNHS.
  • Responsible for having adequate knowledge of all SNHS programs and will gather sufficient intake information to make referrals to other SNHS programs which are beneficial to the client and his/her family.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
