Head Start serves children 3-4 years of age providing a comprehensive preschool program with family support services. Part day and full day classes are available depending on site and family eligibility. There is no cost for part day programming.
Head Start offers activities that support social skills and school readiness. Nutritious meals and snacks are provided and parent involvement is encouraged. Individualized services for children with disabilities are provided.
Head Start operates in Manchester, Nashua, Derry, Greenville, Hillsborough, Portsmouth, Raymond, Seabrook and Hampton.
Early Head Start serves children 6 weeks to 3 years. The center-based program provides child care for families who need full day care when working, going to school or participating in a job training program. The home-based option provides weekly home visits with families to work on child development activities. Both options have a family support component to help families access community resources and work to meet family goals. Early Head Start programs are offered in Nashua and Manchester. There is no charge for either program.
Families must meet income eligibility requirements to participate in either program. SNHS’ Head Start program is open to residents of Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties; families living in Manchester or Nashua are eligible to participate in the Early Head Start program.
